This team was at the same skill level as us. We probably were even slightly better than them at our best stats, nevertheless, we played them in the league considered slightly "overzealous" to some players! What a surprise that we are playing a team that wasn't as skilled as a team playing in the TCSL league! Anyhow, the game was a"50-50 [Match-up]" as coach said. One mistake next to the net, and we are dead meat. That's why I was so pressured at the back side (at center defense)! They were mostly inside the middle of our defense and their attacking third. Therefore, they were more trying to attack, but it was funny because I feel like we were winning most 50-50 balls. This was probably because they were slightly outworking us, so when we got the ball and kept it briefly, I remember more the good stuff. But this game was winnable. Their strikers couldn't strike, which gave us a great advantage. This was helpful, because we didn't fear they would venture a shot anywhere outside the box, which meant all we had to do was keep them out of it! They had a few shots on goal, but they either rolled to our goalkeeper, Ethan, or they were way off target. Now, we were attacking. We have trouble in this field (literally!), as our players seem to be afraid to shoot. We don't need a perfect shot on goal...just a nice something to get the goalie scared. Intimidation is very important in the game of soccer. If your opponent has big, huge guys that are knocking each other over on the bench, what might they do when on the field? This is intimidation. To avoid that, one has to focus on one's own game without caring who we're facing. The score was 0-0 at half, and the game was getting rallied up!
