Game 3, Winter Tournament Vs. Spurs
Of all the chances…can we please just make one?
Player of the match: Asher, for keeping the game close
Goal scorer(s): N/A
Annoying of the game: we had 7 chances, and missed every one
1st Half
The game began with a wake-up call from their offense. They were streaking down the middle on all sides, ready to play. Most of the Surf players were ready to play as well. This…is a good match!
We had a few shots on goal to begin the game, about 3, and none of them went in. It was sad, as we were hoping to get another cushion going into this game. Our defense played an odd game, and the offense had so many chances and missed most. Some of these misses were just miss-hits or unluck, but others were theo hr team getting in the way. To be honest, we could have gotten at least one chance in the precious net! But sadly, we didn’t. The rest of the game we did not. Later in the first half, they had a super quick run-in behind the defense and popped it in. it was really nobodies fault, but the defense took the blow. The rest of the half went on with many throw-ins and fouls. The whistle was blown for half, and we were still determined to win this game.
Coach Calum said to us immediately, “We need to be more aggresive. Get into someone. Knock someone over. We look like we are afraid of this team. come on guys. Lets do this.” He allowed us to put in our input on our performance, and there definitely was a lot of that…
Going into this next half, we were dtetermined to scored and win.
2nd Half
The second half was another great matchup. We had a few nice plays that gave us the very close goal, and we literally (coach counted and verified) had 7 chances on goal! We missed every SINGLE ONE! It was pretty annoying. But, we kept the game close, especially Asher, who acted as a keeper, but also a great defender if thats not enough. We had control of the game for a little while, but it did not amount to anything. The crowd was even standing multiple times, but we still couldn’t put anything in. Jack had a nice move to almost put it in, but it was just left of the left goal post.
The game ended 0-1, Surf lost
Coach Calum’s note
The third game was a really weird game interms of performance first half we really showed our quality. We controlled the game, we controlled the ball and should have been 4-0 up within the first 10mins of the game. The opposition caught us on a counter but I was to bothered due to the performance we put in the first half showing how much better we was. We finished the first half 1-0 down but extremely confident with how the game was going and how easy we was able to create goal scoring opportunities. Second half I give credit to the opposition as they step their performance up and they made the second half more competitive. We lost 1-0 but the story of the game was us not taken chances. We have chances and clear cut goal scoring opportunities. I counted 7 clear scoring opportunities for us. We lost this game from not taken chances the other team didn't't win we gave them the win.
