“Boys…you need to get your head in this game!” -Coach Calum

1st Half

And the last game with the annual Snowball Cup commences. About the red card, oddly enough I did play, but did not start the game, because of a slight twisting of the truth by a few managers and staff on Surf. I did not agree to this, but some did (of which I will not name due to publicity reasons). Anyhow, I did not start, and that was the penalty. This game was very winnable. We easily could have won this. But for some reason we ujst didn’t have the momentum that the other team had. I won’t report on it too much due to the fact that this is another lost game, but it was back and forth a ton, and the offense seemed never to win it in their half. We did anything but play well this first half. Coach emphasized it at halftime, but we did not play well. I was attempting to avoid every occasion of fouling anywhere, so I had a not so great game. The rest of the half dragged on. The halftime score was 0-5, we were down. (we could have been up 5-0, but…)

At half we went to the corner flag and coach ranted at the fact that we were not doing well at all, which was 100% true unfortunately. This game was rough.

2nd Half

The second half was a slight bit better compared to the first half, but not much better. We couldn’t complete our passes, we were missing balls, and much more sadly. The end score was

0-8 Surf loses…again

Maybe next time will unfold a better result, but this Snowball Cup was anything but our best. Thanks for reading,

Simon

Coach Calum’s note

The second game was at 8AM. I'm not sure if the late night game before damaged us with how much effort all the players put into that game. We really weren't at the races all game. I will built the lads up at every opportunity I get but I also need to hold us accountable after a performance like that. We made a decent team look great. We let silly goals in, we struggled on the ball just to retain possession and to connect simple passes. The opposition had athletic players who was able to punish us, but our application in the game was not up to scratch and we put a sub standard performance in.
