Wow! What. A. Game!

After playing this team once yesterday, and kind of getting crushed, we face our fears...and battle them again. Don't ask why we are playing this same team again, because I understand...it makes NO sense. 

1st Half

The game was very exciting. We played this team yesterday, so we sort of knew roughly where the ball was going next, and we also knew who did what moves. This was a strong side for us, and with that in mind going into the game we had just as much confidence (or more!) as we had in the game yesterday. The game begun with their kickoff, but then a few minutes after, we won it back. Mateo dribbled up after winning the ball against the defense, and almost scored, but he sadly lost the ball. Jack had a beautiful game, and I think the best looking stat he had this game was that he evantually got 4 goals! We kept going back and forth, until their center-mid dribbled past all of us, and had just enough space right behind Asher that he shot. He barely missed, but they somehow got the rebound, and they shot it again. Ethan made a few nice saves, until finally a huge right wing player came in andgot a goal...NO1 We weren't going to let this defeat us though. We fought back very hard, and eventually it was Jack against one of their best defenders. He made a nice move, but this defender was pretty good, and he got it from him. Jack was determind to get it back, and he lounged for the ball, with much satisfaction. the ball went behind him, and jack on the left side made a beautiful shot with 8 minutes left in the first half! It was 1-1 with 7 minutes left, as their right wing dribbled up and made a shot. I was guarding him, and i deflected the ball and made a pass to Asher, who passed to Mateo. He lost the ball by dribbling, then the defender passed up to a fast left wing #27. He dribbled past everyone except Ian and I. Ian won the ball, and he passed to Jack. That defender from earlier stole the pass and passed it to the left wing. The left wing dribbled up past everyone (see video...), but then I won the ball and hit it off the wall, and it got to Ian who passed it up. this went on, until about 5 minutes left: they went on another spurt with #10...the right wing dribbled up and shot. He missed, but Ethan then smacked it out of our half (see video again...). The mid-fielder for their team dribbled past everyone, shot, and then the right wing made a goal off the "many rebounds" play. 1-2, as I made a pass to Jack off the kickoff, and after a few 1v1's he made a goal in response!!! It was 2-2, as the mid-fielder again, dribbled up and made a nice pass to #3, their striker. He got a foul becuase he was so small compared to Jad, the one who was guarding him. The referee then somehow noticed that Ian and I didn't have "wristbands" on...and apparently you can't play on the field if you don't have one...so she kicked us out and made the team 2 players short...just for us to get writstbands. UGH! We came back in about a minute later. I drew two fouls in the process of them shooting, and eventually they scored again. The whistle was blown and that was the end of the first half, the score being 2-3, they were in the lead.

The coach this time was jad's dad. He said we needed to keep playing hard andwe could pull some shots off for a hopeful win.

2nd Half

The second half began with me being kicked off the field...as I said...the refs were kind of weird. But still, they called a "blue" card on me and I had to sit out for about 3 minutes. Jad then got this "Blue" card as well, so we sat out until it was time to go back in. Apparently I ran into the guy i was defending, and I got a card. I have gotten that "blue" card before though, so it was no biggie. When I went back in, there were only 12 minutes left in the game. Jack dribbled up and somehow made a beautiful move, shot and...missed. he got the rebound though, then he made a shot in the top right hand corner and MADE IT! It was very exciting, and now we were tied with 9 minutes left! The game went on, and they kept shooting, without much prevail: they shot a total of about 8 shots in the 30 seconds of the attack. They missed them all, and we blocked some of them, but they were definitely not going to let us walk into a tie...they wanted to win. Eventually, we made a nice attack with jad. he made a few great moves, and passed to me on the defense. I passed to Luke on the other side, and he made a nicde controlled pass to jack. jack made a move, but barely missed the angle when he passed it off the wall to asher, and they got it back. Asher is playing in the field for now, until his fractured thumb recovers. Ethan, current evolution player, was filling in for keeper. he does a good job of judging when the ball needs to just be cleared, or when he needs to pick it up. Anyhow, Mateo got the ball from the center-mid fielder and dribbled it up. he didn't get a shot off, but he brought the whole team up the field, then he crossed it. he drew a foul on the right side, so jad took it and he BARELY missed. We had many oppurtunities in this game. Then, ethan made a save on the other end of the field. He punted it to Jack, and jack made a beautiful spin, shot it as hard as it looked like he could have at that moment, and MADE IT! The score was 3-2, we were winning! Immediately after, their left wing shot...and missed. the rebound was ours, but we didn't get to it qiuck enough, and they shot and scored. NO! The score was 3-3 with 2 minutes left. It was almost another perfect timing, because Jack made nice moves, and he shot and scored!!! We were still ahead. They were desperate to beat a team they had crushed the dasy before. It was an amazing match! They dribbled up the right side, crossed it in, we blocked it and cleared it, but their defenders got it and passed it up along the side wall. The left winger dribbled up...shot and missed across the top. Ethan tried to clear it, but there was someone blockeing it, so he had some close calls, but he lost the ball, and the #10 popped it into the back of the net...no! The score was 4-4 with 1 minute left, and they won the ball, and didn't get any shots off, because all we were doing was blocking shots. That was it. that was all we had to do to tie, and possibly win this match-up. The whictle was blown as we cleared the ball...and the final scored ended:

4-4, the game was a tie.
