Can we pull out a frien-emy game against Celtic this time???

1st Half

This team was a complete one. They had the super strong leg guy, they had the shooter, they had even the terrible players to complete their team. The only thing they were missing was the skill. coach said, “ This was a very winnable game.” And this was correct because we made a few mistakes that got close to calling the game. The game started with a few mess-ups, including players missing the ball, not being aggresive, having sloppy, slow passes. We just weren’t on top of it this game. The annoying thing was that they weren’t seeming to be on their highest levels either. They almost scored from sheer luck, a rebound in the back of the box, and they slammed it into the crossbar. This unusual shot happened for the second time soon after, and they mad it! A third time a little closer in, they had the ball smashed up field by a pesky little player in the back field, and their team had a nice shot after dribbling past our left back. The first half was to be sumed by a huge shot from a corner kick with another goal. At halftime, the score was (I am pretty sure:) 0-3. We barely had the ball, and the times we did, we had trouble.

At halftime, coach said that we needed to step up our game. Building from the back was one of our big strong sides, and hitting long balls was not working. He also said that, “ Although we are having some success dribbling up the middle, we really need to pass to the outside, then cross it inside before the defenders get to it. We were going to try to be more aggresive and win the game, although it was going to be a challenge. 

2nd Half

The second half was another unfortunate one. Their winger dropped back, our defense…for some odd reason, would begin also dropping and leaving a ton of space in the middle third, which meant more space for passing, which meant more overloads to our defensive line. Noah knocked down a couple people, and we had a few successful fouls, such as a foul I made against their defensive line (see in front picture). Then we almost scored with a nice pass from the left side from Dylan and Juan plopped it into the right side, but it sadly hit the side of the post and bounced outside, then it was slammed away by the defensive line. The rest of the game was back and forth, with their scoring again with a nice cross from the left side. We had a few events in the box, and they had a few as well, but the game went on. They scored once more, giving them the lead 0-5, in the box by a small slip in from their striker. JUan hit one in after a nice move through their WHOLE DEFENSE! The game finished:

1-5, it was a loss for Surf!

We came out here for a potential NPL league win, and this sour loss was not encountered well by Ethan, who was hurt slightly in a jam from getting the ball in the second half. He will not be attending next game, not due to this injury, but for other reasons.
