5th Game Vs. Alpha Forms Academy
Another learning and…dare I say…FUN game
Player of the match: Mateo, for competing hard and getting us up field
Goal scprer(s): N/A (aside from other team 😬)
Funny of the game: Apparently I, “Fouled (#77’s) knees.” He said that when I stole the ball from him. (:
1st Half
I won’t write much about today’s game. The way our team looked at it was, “ It was a good learning experience for all of us, and a good competition to look at as a practice game to try new stuff.” The game was rough, and they scored 21 goals. The coach said, “ This is one of those games we need to forget about and just move on. We know this league’s games were all going to be an uphill battle.” We lost many build out phases from the back, and didn’t engage in any attacks. Sadly, this game was a huge dissapointment, but Alpha Forms seems like an overserious club.
Our coach had overlapping games, so another coach from Surf was there today. She said we needed to be more aggresive, and keep our work rate higher than the first half. This was true, and a few others shared some other input to the game. The team still had their heads up after an unfortunate first half, and we also had a slight bit of hope headed out onto the field for the second half.
2nd Half
Jack tried to shoot during the end, which was a little bit closer than we had expected, but the goalie got it. Mateo kept stealing the ball, which was a nice improvment to the teams overall play. It was an unfortunate game, and they scored many more times. One thing I do have to say, is that I got a yellow card for tripping a guy who was about to score. Asher was then up against him in a close penalty shot. The guy missed far to the right side of the goal, and Asher and I secretly celebrated.
Thanks for reading! Maybe next week will be more successful, so come back again for more summaries!
Summary by Coach (special!)
I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! This weekend I had a couple of direct conflicts. I have reached out to the league to reschedule some of the games. Be prepared for game times to be changed this week.
I talked at length with Coach Kiara (Today’s coach) about the game and her opinion on it. She had mentioned that the other team was out working us with out the ball and our build out phase caused us to make a lot of our own mistakes, with us losing the ball so close to our goal. We needed to clear of our own box better. We were getting beating often. She said the scoreline reflects our own mistakes more. This has been a common theme for us. This could be from us being a newer team moving to 11v11 recently, but they may have had the same mistakes. We are going to play some good teams in this league and we knew from the start every game is going to be an uphill battle. Let's make sure we stay positive for the lads and keep improving week by week. This is a type of game where we will forget about it and move on and continue with training.
