"Dang...I did that!?" -Theo, one of the best backup goalies ever

Player of the match: Luke, for playing all out in everything!

Goal scorers:

Funny of the game: Simon once passed back to the back-up goal keeper, and it accidentally rolled in...

Before the game begins, let me just say that the team had a solid game. I know you can already tell it was rough because no one scored...but this was a game to learn, and a game STILL to have fun!

1st Half

The game was not very exciting in terms of our play. We did play some solid soccer, the other team was just very good. Another thing that made them better is that they practice indoors, on the SAME field that we were playing on. If that doesn't tell you anything...I don' think anything will. It started with Landon playing right wing, Mate playing left wing, and Theo at striker. Everyone kept calling these," The new positions" I'm not really sure what that meant. Anyways, Jad got the ball at kickoff, and he practically made a perfect pass to Landon. Many passes this game were like that: fast and accurate. Then they won it, and this went on for about 8 minutes, until about the near end of the quarter, when Jack got pushed toward our goal, and everyone was playing so many presses, it was even hard to see Jack from defense. Anyhow, he bobbled it, and one Saint guy (I believe it was the striker) hit it into our goal for their lead, 0-1. Then they made another run, played a huge press on jad, he lost the ball, then they popped it in behind Ian (our current goalie). This team was using the wall to their huge advantage, and I was very annoyed because it wasn't really fair. They PRACTICE indoors, so of course they will know all the strategies. Eventually, we sort of took control of the game for a few minutes. Conor passed to Mateo, to Landon, back to Mateo, then back to me. I passed to Jad who got it up to Conor again. Then conor lost the ball and the guy dribbled down field. I won the ball and passed it back to jad on the right side off the wall. He passed it back, then I passed to the keeper (Ian), and it rolled through his legs...whaa! It was an own goal...too bad. At about 1 minute left in the first half, with the Saints up 0-3, Jack went into goal. Immediately, the Saints got to the ball, rushed down field, and hit it almost in...but JACK made a beautiful save to keep the game going. Then for the rebound Jad got it, but when he tried to clear it, a Saint got in the way, and they shot again...but Jack made yet ANOTHER save!! But sadly, they got the rebound and scored...no! We kicked off, but it was too late to get a shot off, and the buzzer went off.

At ahfltime, Coach Calum said," Hey you guys, play football. Play your game. Some of you boys made beautiful passes by just being consistent. That one spurt of controlling the game was excellent! Do more of controlling the game, and we can win this."

2nd half

The second half was even less eventful...which, in terms of what happened I would have to say that is good. I think this team had the ability to read very well where the ball was going next. On almost every rebound off the walls, they won it. That is what happened for their 5th goal. They were dribbling up on the right side after crossing the ball from somewhere in the middle, then the guy shot, but it hit the wall before it had a chance to go in. Then, the striker for his second goal, rushed in and slammed it into the back of the net. The rest of the game was pretty much like this accept they only scored one more goal thankfully. I will not mention how it was scored, as we have heard enough sad goals against our team. Hopefully next week, we will be about to pull out a nice freeing win against Fever. The final score was:

0-6, Saints win
