Dallas Surf Soccer Game Summaries!

“Guess who’s back…back again…”

1.28.25 AT 6:04 PM

Ladies and gentlemen, the Surf soccer website is officially back after that long 3 month break! So what's happened since that last update? Read on!

Tuesday practice called off

After a long, awesome tournament at College Station in Texas, the Surf 11B will be taking the day off; grab a pina colada and a sports magazine!

Odd “Squidgames” stickynote circulates during practice

Breaking news: The case of the mysterious blue sticky note continues to baffle local observers. With no known origin or creator, this elusive scrap of paper has been spotted fluttering through the icy air during the last three practices—though, in a dramatic twist, it has only just disappeared. "Had it four times," says Will, "twice straight off the ground." By the end of practice, it vanished yet again, leaving us all wondering: Will it return next session, or has it gone for good? Stay tuned.

Two players return from injury!

Two players have officially returned from injury; Jack and Ethan. Jack, with his offensive passing abilities, showed potential from the beginning of this past season, only to shatter his HIP in a FOOTBALL GAME! OUCH! After a few , ready to pick up where he left off.

On the other hand, Ethan, our standout goalkeeper, has continued to recover. The team's defense just hasn't been the same without him, and we're all eager to see him back between the posts, blocking shots and commanding the field as only he can.

Coach Calum conducts “Fart-lek” run

A few practices ago, Coach Calum had the team do a 15 minute Fart-lek as he said,

“We’ll do this again in a couple months and see if all of you have improved.”

A Fart-lek run is essentially a 3-piece distance test; participants begin with 15 minutes on the clock, and jog 1/4, sprint 1/2, then walk 1/4, and repeat until the time is up. Then you get a score depending on how far you got. We’ll see if we’ve improved in a couple months!

First game’s release!

9.8.24 AT 9:54 PM

It’s finally here! THE FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON! The game began really well: we had numerous oppurtunities and we took those oppurtunities. Our energy stayed high most of the game, sagging only when they got close to our goal once or twice. After practicing for weeks, the team is well-rounded and seemed ready for this game. And did we prove it? YOU BET! The game continued 0 to 0 until late in the second half when I passed up through the middle to someone (I don’t remember who), and they almost made the goal on the left side of the field, but it was just right of the post. Out of the blue, a new recruit, Oliver, came in and tapped the ball in FOR A GOAL!! The team we played, Avanti, panicked after the goal, and tried numerous times to advance through our defensive line. Much to their discontent, they couldn’t! The game ended

Surf 1, Avanti 0!!

What a great way to pave new beginnings! Until next week,

-Simon

Getting back to the basics

6.17.24 AT 10:30 AM

Here comes another season! But what does the team need to improve? Well, here are a few interesting headlines to refresh the website and most importantly, you!

1. Rumors claim JOSH and JACK are leaving the team.

This could affect the middle third in our upcoming games! We’ll see how things progress as more news arrives.

2. Coach said something along the lines of, “Let’s just get back to basics here. During the summer we’re going to be working mainly on individual gameplay. Team gameplay will come when the season begins again.” We will be working on ball skills and things to that effect during the summer. Let’s hear it for the offseason! (:
